Today I am bringing you my top two make-up removers. I am very excited over this because they are both from brands that I can’t get enough of; Urban Decay & Benefit <3 HUGE FAN OF BOTH!

Gee…that was quick! from Benefit | Clean & Sober from Urban Decay

I don’t think I can’t say which one is best because both will remove make up that has been in your pores for decades, and will leave your face feeling refreshed. Both are oil free and you can use them on your eyes as well as face.

The only difference between both is that Clean & Sober is gel based (super nice on your skin), while Gee…that was quick! is liquid. And I’ll be honest Gee…that was quick lives up to its name; it removed make-up faster.

I can’t live without my Essie Nail Corrector. Not all of us have time to always go to the salon and get manicures so if you are like me you maintain yourself at home in between visits. Now I am no nail technician, and yes I do mistakes when I apply my polish. Specially those dark colors that we smell to love. That’s when I break out my Essie Nail Corrector and problem solved!

I buy it at my favorite beauty store, Makeovers, but I am sure you can find it anywhere they sell Essie products. I paid $12 for it. Now remember you don’t have to buy this brand I am sure there are least inexpensive ones out there that work just as well. I just love the Essie brand; yes OK call me an Essie snob LOL! Today I am wearing a gorgeous deep purple, Sexy Divide. What do ya’ll think??? Like? Hate?

I have given up on waxing. For years now I haven’t waxed my brows or any part of my body or face. After reading a horror waxing article on Cosmo, I am afraid at whatever lives in that wax or where they previously used the wooden stick that is now spreading wax on my face. Yeah NIGHTMARE Lol! That was when I discovered Eyebrow Threading. What is Threading? Let me give you the back story on Threading.

Threading is an ancient method of hair removal which originated in Persia , spread to the Middle and Far East, and is now gaining popularity in Western countries. It is equally popular with both men and women in Arab countries, although the men usually just do their ears and eyebrows with thread and continue to shave the beard part of their face with a traditional safety or straight razor. It is also popular in Persian culture where it is called Bande Abru (“Abru” means eyebrow, and “Band” is the thread). Threading the entire face is widely spread amongst Iranians, but it was originally practiced when a woman was getting married or during special occasions. In ancient Persia, threading was a sign that a girl had reached adulthood and become a woman.

Practitioners use a pure, thin, twisted cotton thread which is rolled over untidy hairlines, moustaches and so on, plucking the hair at the follicle level. Unlike tweezing where a single hair is pulled out each time, threading can remove an entire row of hair, resulting in a straighter line.

Like other methods of hair removal such as plucking or waxing, threading can result in skin irritation and ingrown hairs.

As the top layers of skin are not peeled or traumatized, threading is an alternative for those with sensitive skin or who use Retin-A, Accutane, and similar products.

Here’s a video I found on Youtube showing you the Threading process. I won’t deny it the first time that you do it, it hurts like a mother and your eyes will probably tear. But you’ll love the end process. You won’t have any of that redness nor bumps that come with the waxing. By the way, if they are charging you more than $8 to do your brows they are charging too much. I won’t be around much this weekend since I am away at a wedding. But I didn’t want to leave you empty handed. I was reading around Yahoo and I came across a really good article about inexpensive shampoos. A shampoo doesn’t need to cost $40 a bottle to give you the effect you want. So here I am sharing the article with you.

Now I know a lot of us are not educated when it comes to sunblock, I say that because I wasn’t. So let me give you a short class on SPF. Hopefully, we’ll be more continuous tanaholics after this LOL.

• How does sunblock protect us? Sunblock protects your skin by absorbing and/or reflecting UVA and UVB radiation.
• What does SPF stand for? Sun Protector Factor.
• What is SPF rating? The SPF rating indicates how long a sunscreen remains effective on the skin.
• How can we determine the length of SPF protection? A user can determine how long their sunblock will be effective by multiplying the SPF factor by the length of time it takes for him or her to suffer a burn without sunscreen. For instance, if you normally develop a sunburn in 10 minutes without wearing a sunscreen, a sunscreen with an SPF of 15 will protect you for 150 minutes (10 minutes multiplied by the SPF of 15). Although sunscreen use helps minimize sun damage, no sunscreen completely blocks all wavelengths of UV light.
• What SPF level is recommended? The American Association of Dermatology (AAD) recommends that a “broad spectrum” sunblock with an SPF of at least 15 that is applied daily to all sun exposed areas, then reapplied every two hours. However, in some recent clinical trials, sunblocks with SPF 30 provided significantly better protection than sunblocks with SPF15. Therefore at UCSF, we recommend sunblocks with SPF of at least 30 with frequent reapplication.

So let’s back up a little bit here, SPF 30 and above is best, and make sure you reapply every 2 hours. Here are some things to keep in mind:

• Sunblock should be applied at least 20 minutes prior of sun exposure.
• Spray lotions and gel, although less oily, they wash off easier.
• Your lips are part of your skin. Make sure you use lip balm with SPF in it.

All that time in the water and the sun was dying my hair, and of course I didn’t have a UV serum with me. My ever so brilliant cousin shared with me her homemade UV hair protector and it worked wonders. So I am going to share it with you. But shhhhhhh don’t tell anyone LOL Kidding.

Ingredients

• Your favorite Sunblock (I recommend SPF 30 & up)
• Your favorite Conditioner
• Water 

Instructions

Take an empty spray bottle (you can find them at a local beauty supply stores, pharmacy, and even a $.99 store) mix one part sunblock, one part conditioner, and one part water. Shake & mix well together. Spray it on your hair as often as you apply your tanning lotion; rule of thumb every 2 hours or as needed depending to sun and water exposure.

This weekend I have a wedding to go to, and the bride asked me to do her make-up. Super honor that she would trust me to dolled her up for her big day! Of course I’ve been using myself as a dummy as too what colors to use on her since we have different complexion colors. I think I have the colors set and of course I’ll let ya’ll know how it went and I’ll even share pictures of the end result.

While I know how to apply make-up, and consider myself pretty good, I am always looking for tips on how to improve. Practice makes perfect after all.
